LAKELAND, FL (Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007) —Local volunteers moved quickly Tuesday to assist residents displaced when their home was condemned by local authorities. Authorities in Lakeland, Fla., asked the American Red Cross Polk County Chapter to assist 13 residents of a boarding house in Lakeland whose home was condemned for life safety and fire code violations.
Volunteers provided residents with temporary shelter and the city of Lakeland provided transportation.
